It's competition time.

Karl Urban Online is happy to announce we're giving away three autographed pictures of Karl. The signed pics up for grabs are one high quality glossy photo of Eomer, and two pictures I printed myself of not such high quality, but they're decent enough pics and they were signed by Mr Urban and therefore have Karl DNA on them. All three pics were signed by Karl at Supanova over the weekend.

To enter, simply email me and tell me who your fave Karl character is and why. You can also pick which photo you'd prefer to win. Technologically advanced selection methods will be used to determine the winners (ie: winning names will be picked out of a bowl full of crumpled pieces of paper with all the entrants' names on them). So drop me an email to get your entry in for one of these prizes. One entry per person. All three winning entrants must be willing to give me their real name and mailing details - no P.O. Box address will be accepted. This competition closes on July 15th, 2009.

8th April, 2009

All of us here at Karl Urban Online were privileged to attend the world premier of the latest Star Trek film, which was shown at The Sydney Opera House last night. And what a film it was. I won't give away any spoilers...well, OK, maybe some very minor ones.

Our tickets to the premier entitled us to walk the red carpet, but we thought it would be better to wait along the barriers so we could take pics and get some autographs (including a copy of the Out Of The Blue DVD). The red carpet pics are up in Gallery 11.

After that we went inside for a few drinks in the foyer and then settled down in the Concert Hall for the film. The director, JJ Abrams got on stage and said hello and chatted for a bit, and he was very funny. He then introduced John Cho (Sulu), then he introduced Karl. He was very popular, there was quite a cheer when he came out on stage. Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Chris Pine (Kirk) were then introduced and last but not least was Eric Bana (Nero), who came out to thunderous applause, being the token Aussie in the cast. Shortly after, they all walked off stage and the lights went down and the film started, and what a movie. Wow, it was great and we really enjoyed it. It's a very funny film. We laughed our arses off and cheered along with everyone else when the classic lines were said, such as "Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a physicist", "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?" and "Fascinating". It was a trip. Karl was fabulous as McCoy and kudos to Simon Pegg who stole every scene he was in. Of course, the special FX were awesome.

It's due to be officially released next month. I hope you enjoy it as much as we at Karl Urban Online did.

26th February, 2009

Chris Pine gave an interview to CNN's Showbiz Tonight and had some nice things to say about Karl and his performance in the upcoming Star Trek film:

"Yeah, Urban is, oh, he's fantastic. I think when people see what Karl did with the role they're going to be blown away. I mean, it was a shock when I found out that he was doing it, he's such a great-looking guy. He's such a leading man and to take on this classic character role…he is like the doppelganger of DeForest Kelley. But he brings his own Karl sensibility to it so people will really enjoy it."
